Rosenborg Ballklub has called for an extraordinary general meeting. The reason is that individual members have demanded that the chairman resign. The board of Rosenborg Ballklub has therefore made a decision to call for an extraordinary general meeting where the entire board will put their positions at disposal. This will result in the election of a new board at the extraordinary general meeting. The chairman bears no special responsibility for either the positive or negative in Rosenborg. A board is collectively responsible for the club's priorities. As the demand has been presented, the board therefore sees no other option than to put their positions at disposal and call for the election of a new board, says the board's deputy chairman, Odd Einar Landsem. On May 26, 2026, parts of the board were presented by individual members with a demand that the chairman resign. Furthermore, it has been established that the alternative to the chairman's resignation will be a demand for an extraordinary general meeting with the election of a new chairman on the agenda. The board was informed that there are more than 50 member signatures on this demand, and then one can, in accordance with Rosenborg's statutes, request an extraordinary general meeting. The board sees no reason to doubt the demand. The initiators have said that they want the chairman to resign, and have warned of a demand for an extraordinary general meeting if she does not do so herself. The board's assessment of the matter is that the matter cannot and should not be handled without the general meeting taking a position on the board as a whole. The election committee has used considerable time and resources to put together a board with complementary competence, and the board has been put together in accordance with NIF's rules on gender representation, which sets requirements for the composition of the board as a whole. It would therefore be unfortunate for the club if only the chairman's position were handled in isolation without the board's overall composition being taken into account. The board believes that a comprehensive handling of the matter will best serve the club's interests and ensure that the new board can function well from day one, says deputy chairman Odd Einar Landsem. NIF's law is clear that the board is collectively responsible for its decisions. The claims used in the members' demands to demand the chairman's resignation are a matter of the board's full democratic right to present. When the claims are used as a reason for the chairman's resignation, the board believes that the matter should be handled openly and formally by the general meeting. There, the board will respond to the claims, and the members will have the opportunity to ask questions and take a position on whether they have confidence in the chairman and the board. It is important to emphasize that the board does not stand behind the claims used as the reason for the motion of no confidence. Because it is demanding to respond to all individual claims, the board will set a discussion on strategy on the agenda, in addition to the election of a new board. There, the members will be able to ask questions about priorities in the past and future and debate them from the podium of the general meeting. Although the board has a desire to be able to respond to all claims and questions on the go, as well as be more visible, we are unable to do so. We are volunteers and unfortunately, our day does not stretch that far. We therefore now request that all claims and dissatisfaction be taken up at the general meeting, so that the club can get a chance to focus on the sporting challenges it faces.
