Rosenborg BK have extended the contract of young attacker Maciej Soboczynski. The 19-year-old player has signed a new deal that ties him to the club until the end of 2030.

Soboczynski was formally added to the first-team squad this week. He joined the club and the SalMar Akademiet ahead of the 2025 season and has been training with the senior side since February, including during the pre-season camp in Marbella. There he made his unofficial debut against Start. This year he has scored nine goals in eleven games for Rosenborg 2, which led to him being included in several matchday squads after the summer. He made his official Rosenborg debut in the Norwegian Cup match against Nationalkameratene at Hallset Kunstgress last weekend, and scored in that game.

Sporting director Alfred Finnbogason emphasises that the club always looks to its own academy first. "Vi er en klubb som alltid ser først til vårt eget akademi og når spillerne våre tar steget opp og viser at de holder nivået, ønsker vi å belønne dem," said Finnbogason. He added that Soboczynski has impressed with his skills, attitude and mentality in training with the first team. The club believes in the player's future and sees the contract as a sign of that.

Soboczynski himself expressed great gratitude. "Det er utrolig stort. Jeg har jobbet hardt for dette i lang tid." said the young attacker.

Rosenborg currently sit seventh in the Eliteserien with 24 points from 17 games. They have scored 25 goals and conceded 22. The team's last result was a 2-1 win over Viking on August 14th, and they have won five of their last six matches. This good form comes just before a key fixture. A win there could pull the team closer to the top.

Soboczynski's development is an important signal that the club is investing in young talent. With an attacking line that has already delivered 25 goals this season, his presence will provide extra competition and depth.

The contract until 2030 shows a clear long-term plan from Rosenborg. It secures one of the academy's most promising players remains in Trondheim. For Soboczynski, it means the opportunity to establish himself in the Eliteserien and help Rosenborg climb the table. They are currently 17 points behind Bodø/Glimt, so there is much to fight for in the remaining matches. You can always check the league position on our standings page.

This signing from the SalMar Akademiet aligns with the club's ambitions to build from within. With regular training with the first team and a debut that has already yielded a goal, Soboczynski has shown he is ready for the next step. His continued development will be key to Rosenborg's success both this season and in the years to come.
