Rosenborg BK has now appointed Freyr Alexandersson as the new head coach. The 43-year-old Icelander has signed a contract that runs until the end of the 2029 season. Alexandersson comes to the club after being the head coach at Brann, where he worked closely with assistant coach Jonathan Hartmann, who will also join him in Trondheim. Alexandersson expresses great confidence that he and his team can lift Norway's most successful football club back to the top of Norwegian football. He acknowledges that the situation in the club is critical after a poor start to the season, with Rosenborg sitting in 15th place with only nine points after eleven matches. Alexandersson has previously held coaching roles at Kortrijk in Belgium and Lyngby in Denmark, as well as coaching the Icelandic women's national team. The club has been searching for a new head coach since May, when Alfred Johansson left the position. Alexander Tettey has been serving as the interim coach in the meantime.
